About KUD Opanak Edmonton

KUD Opanak was founded on May 11, 1959, under Bogdan Zjalić's leadership, with 15 members. After initial rehearsals in the basement, it has operated on the Church-School Community premises since 1986. Over six decades, it has become a successful association with over 205 members in seven ensembles, preserving our culture far from our homeland.

Registration

Our registration begins in mid-August and extends on certain dates throughout the year. Dancers may register through the "online registration" page.

Fees

Our fees for the 2024/2025 season are as follows. 

2024-2025 Opanak Dancer Fee

Monthly payments are automatically made through the SportsPlus app using the credit card added during online registration. 

Please note that additional fees may apply if there is an opportunity for travel. 

Practices

Our practices are held on Tuesday or Friday evenings in the Serbian Hall. The season runs from the beginning of September to the end of June.

Sveta Petka - Celebrated on the weekend closest to October 27. 

Sveti Sava - Celebrated on the weekend closest to January 27. 

Serbian Days - Celebrated on the first weekend in June. 

Opanak Anniversary - Celebrated every 5 years on the weekend closest to May 11. Our next anniversary celebration is in 2029.
